The match between the hole and the shaft in the mold could be divided into three types.
If the diameter of the hole is bigger than that of the shaft, it is called as clearance fit; if the diameter of the hole is smaller than that of the shaft, it is referred as interference fit; If the tolerance for the diameter of the hole is not equal to that of the shaft, it is regarded as transition fit. What is the fit between the guide pin and the guide bushing?
In these three kinds of match, if the hole and the shaft are interference fit, it cannot movable, apparently, the match between guide pin and guide bushing would not like this. And transition fit requests the tightness caused by external force, like dowel pin fixation, of course this is not suitable for match between guide pin and guide bushing. If clearance match, the hole and the shaft could move with each other, so the match between guide pin and guide bushing should be clearance fit, which can reach to the level of slip fit.
In order to distinguish and comprehend these three ways of match, please refer to the examples as below:
Clearance fit: could move (guide pin and guide bushing, punch pin and stripper plate, punch pin and fixed plate)
Interference fit: to be fixed (guide pin, guide bushing and fixed plate)
Transition fit: not only positioning, but also tight fit (dowel pins, inserts)
